Earth Day 2020
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to mass mobilize in the way we had originally planned. However, this did not stop us from continuing the fight for climate justice. We pivoted our efforts to a digital strike, and worked to translate our vision into “Earth Day Live.” Led by the U.S. Youth Strike Coalition and joined by Sunrise Movement Houston, along with over 400 organizations, the 72-hour live stream included training sessions, performances, and appearances by celebrities, politicians, scientists, and youth activists on the frontlines of climate justice. The livestream aimed to engage people across the country and globe in collective action to protect our climate and communities, and encourage them to stay informed and inspired. Each day had a theme that represented a different aspect of the mobilization, and included blocks of times carved out in which local groups live streamed their own actions.
